There are lots and lots of different ways you can help depending on your time and commitments, for example:
- Cheering on our Marathon runners
- Putting up posters in local libraries or gyms
- Having a collection day outside supermarkets
- Helping out in our head office in Kingston
- Distributing leaflets on future events
- Passing information on to local newspapers
- Handing out tea and cheer on the three peaks challenge
- Holding raffles/car boot sales/auctions in aid of the Association
- Helping with the crèche at our AGM
These are just a few examples and we are always keen to hear of new ideas!

2. LOCAL GROUPS
People often join a local group to establish contact with others whose lives are affected by Neurofibromatosis, and to share their own experiences. Local groups can help to overcome the feelings of isolation often experienced by people with Neurofibromatosis and their families. What does a local group do?
Local groups can:
- Raise awareness of Neurofibromatosis and the Neurofibromatosis Association locally.
- Share information and exchanging ideas at meetings.
- Develop mutual support between members (eg via a group contact list to enable members to support each other between meetings).
- Organise social activities.
- Press for better local services for people with Neurofibromatosis (campaigning).
- Fundraise.
Who can get involved?
Local groups welcome:
- People with Neurofibromatosis.
- Parents of a person with Neurofibromatosis and other family members such as grandparents, brothers and sisters.
- Friends of families affected by Neurofibromatosis.
- Carers of a person with Neurofibromatosis.
- Local professionals such as doctors, nurses, teachers, social workers.
- Anyone interested in supporting the Neurofibromatosis Association.
How do I get involved?
Please contact head office to find out if there is a group in your area. If you would like to start up a local group in your area, we can provide you with a wide range of support.
If local groups are not for you, why not join our network of volunteers?
